Despite his club’s refusal to grant him passage to chief Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich, Polish striker Robert Lewandowski remains determined to leave Borussia Dortmund after the side’s disappointing defeat in the Champions League final at the hands of the giants from the German capital.

Club officials confirmed recently that the 24-year-old would not follow Mario Gotze's footsteps in switching sides in the rivalry, with executive Aki Watzke telling Bild, “I’m not saying he will definitely stay. But he will certainly not join Bayern in 2013,” when asked if Lewandowski would stay put.

“In the next few days, we will discuss everything with Robert and his agents. That is out of common respect,” he said.

Lewandowski, however, reiterated his intentions to switch to a new club.

“He [Watzke] recently told me something different. He knows what I wish for," he said. “He has promised me that I will be allowed to leave, and now something different happens.”

“But I think everything will change,” he added. “In my opinion, this is not the last decision, and I believe everything will change and come to a good conclusion. Everyone at Borussia Dortmund knows what I want and where I want to go to.”
