After leading the New England Patriots to their fifth Super Bowl title, quarterback Tom Brady was awarded the Pete Rozelle Trophy, as the MVP of Super Bowl LI.

Winning Super Bowls and being named MVP has become old hat for Brady. His five Super Bowl victories are a record for a starting quarterback and he’s the first player in NFL history to be named Super Bowl MVP four times. Brady also won the Pete Rozelle Trophy after spearheading wins in Super Bowls XLIX, XXXVIII, and XXXVI.

The five-time Super Bowl champ completed 43 of 62 passes for 466 yards and two touchdowns (one interception) for a passer rating of 95.2. Brady set single-game Super Bowl records for completions, attempts, and passing yards. Super Bowl XXXIV MVP Kurt Warner was the only player to have ever thrown for 400-plus yards in a Super Bowl before Brady.

Already the career-record holder in completions (207), passing yards (2,071), and touchdown passes (15), Brady added on to his Super Bowl totals.

Not just the first quarterback to win five Super Bowls and four MVPs, Brady also orchestrated the first overtime win in the history of the Super Bowl. The Patriots capped off the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history, overcoming a 25-point deficit (28-3), when they went 75 yards on eight plays for a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime.

The MVP is decided by a panel of 16 voters, which includes members of the Pro Football Writers Association of America, select electronic broadcast media members, and an interactive fan vote. The fans voted through NFL.com, the league’s official website.
