Three men accused of starting a fight on St. Patrick’s Day in Midtown Manhattan were arraigned Wednesday after surrendering to the NYPD.
Louis Rezzonico, 21, of Jersey City, Perry-Michael Rezzonico, 17, and Nelphy Peralta-Reyes, 17, both of Wayne, NJ, were arraigned on assault charges after attacking two teenagers outside O’Brien’s Irish Pub, located on 43rd Street, on March 17.
The 17-year-old victims apparently got into an argument with the three men inside the bar, which spilled outside and turned physical, according to police. A cellphone video shows the attackers, all wearing green and white New York Jets jerseys adorned with the numbers 12, 87, and 23. and beating the victims with their fists and bottles.
Assistant District Attorney Victoria Meyer said during the arraignment that Louis Rezzonico instigated the altercation and threw the first punch, knocking one of the teens out. Peralta-Reyes broke a bottle over one of the teens’ heads, then kicking him in the head and breaking his jaw. According to Meyer, Perry-Michael Rezzonico punched one of the victims, breaking his orbital bone.
The alleged attackers’ lawyer, Matthew Mari, said the victims were the ones who instigated the fight, that they were with a larger group inside the bar when the fight began.
“The so-called victims were the bullies in the bar — they started the flight inside and were kicked out,” Mari said. “My guys were ambushed. At the beginning they were on the bottom, at the end they were on top.”
According to the Daily News, family members for all three alleged attackers were in court for the arraignments. The relationship between the two Rezzonicos is not immediately clear.
