Pressure is building toward the Trump administration to allow President-elect Joe Biden's team access to coronavirus pandemic information as well as other national concerns to allow for a proper transition. While it's customary for an outgoing president to allow the incoming president access and provide them with information for a seamless transition, Donald Trump is still fighting the election results and is uninterested in helping Biden.

Yet, pressure is mounting on him to do so. There has been a bipartisan effort to get him to allow for the transition process. Adding to those voices are the American Hospital Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Nurses Association, the country's top associations that represent hospitals, doctors, and nurses.

The three groups joined together on Tuesday to write a letter to Trump requesting that his administration cooperate with Biden's, noting an effort to do so is crucial, in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Real-time data and information on the supply of therapeutics, testing supplies, personal protective equipment, ventilators, hospital bed capacity, and workforce availability to plan for further deployment of the nation's assets needs to be shared to save countless lives," wrote the groups in the letter to the president.

"All information about the capacity of the Strategic National Stockpile, the assets from Operation Warp Speed, and plans for dissemination of therapeutics and vaccines needs to be shared as quickly as possible to ensure that there is continuity in strategic planning so that there is no lapse in our ability to care for patients," the groups implored.

One aspect in general the medical groups focused on, that has been a focus of many, is that information regarding an upcoming vaccine needs to be shared. There have been two vaccines that have announced success in the past week. Most likely, one or both will receive Food and Drug Administration emergency authorization to provide the most vulnerable people in the  population with the virus.

This leaves the remainder of the population still vulnerable. Experts believe one or both of the vaccines will be available for mass release in the general population in the spring, which would be a few months after Biden takes over.

A proper transition needs to take place so that Biden can start setting up his administration for that effort. He said during a press conference earlier this week that if there is no proper transition process, "More people may die if we don't coordinate."

The nation's top infectious-disease specialist, Anthony Fauci, said he is "concerned" regarding the lack of cooperation with the Biden team.

"We urge your administration to work closely with the Biden transition team to share all critical information related to COVID," the hospital, doctor, and nurse groups wrote in their letter.
