Walmart told staff on Friday it will stop selling e-cigarettes and electronic nicotine products at its U.S. stores.
This is due to teenage use of such products, reports of vaping-related lung disease, and some deaths.
Reuters is reporting that the handful of deaths may or may not be linked to vitamin E in the vape liquid.
Walmart said growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and uncertainty were behind its decision.
Last week, Amazon claimed to take down vape paraphernalia but did not specify the exact products removed.
Walmart shares were little changed in late trading, while shares of Altria Group Inc were up nearly 2%.
