After Hollis Bulleit, daughter of the founder of Bulleit Frontier Whiskey, accused her family of homophobia and of forcing her out of the company because she identified as a lesbian, the beverage industry and the LGBTQ community were up in arms.

The heiress claimed on Facebook in early August her began rejecting her when she first came out 10 years ago, eventually resulting in her being fired from her role as Bulleit brand ambassador by email on Christmas Eve of 2016. She worked with the company for 25 years.

Bulleit is owned by multi-billion-dollar corporation Diageo, which was ironically named in December as a "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality" for the ninth consecutive year by the Human Rights Campaign. But while Diageo has denied her accusations, the damage is done, as many bars are now taking the beverage off the shelves in solidarity with Ms. Bulleit.

One such bar is Bushwick's Cobra Club, which will be hosting an auction for their remaining stock of the company's bourbon and rye whiskeys for the winner to destroy. All proceeds will go to a charity that supports the LGBTQ community.

"Due to the anti-LGBTQ stance of the Bulleit family, Cobra Club will no longer carry the brand," the event announcement notes. "Join us for an auction of our leftover stock hosted by the amazing drag queen Ragamuffin! Each bottle purchased will be destroyed and the winner will receive a bottle of Little Wolf Whiskey to take home. All proceeds will go to GLSEN, a national npo working against violence and discrimination targeting LGBTQ youth. Thanks to Little Wolf Whiskey for their generous donation!"

Winners of the auction are free to either pour the liquor down the drain or smash the bottle—and the destruction will be filmed. The event takes place on Wednesday, August 30, with a cocktail hour from 8 to 9 p.m. and the auction following at 9 p.m. Cobra Club is located at 6 Wyckoff Ave. in Bushwick, Brooklyn, steps away from the Jefferson St. L train stop.
