When President Donald Trump threatened to strike Syria, the US Navy only had one destroyer in the region - leading people to assume that it take part in the strike. But that may have been a trick. But when the attack occurred, that ship didn't fire anything - which may have been a distraction ploy. Instead, ships in the Red Sea fired a large portion of the missiles, which was combined with a trilateral air assault from a US B-1B Lancer bomber and UK and French fighter jets. Syria and its Russian ally apparently failed entirely to defend it. Russian threats to counter-attack also ultimately came to nothing.
