U.S. Suggests Russia, Syria May Tamper With Douma Evidence

On Monday, the United States accused Russia of blocking international inspectors from reaching the city of Douma, the site of the suspected poison gas attack in Syria. The United States added that Russians or Syrians may have tampered with evidence on the ground. Moscow denied the charge and blamed delays on retaliatory U.S.-led missile strikes on Syria. Washington also said that it is preparing to increase pressure on Russia, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s main ally, with new economic sanctions.
