South Africa's Winnie Mandela to Be Laid to Rest

On Saturday, thousands of mourners gathered in South Africa’s Soweto township to bid farewell to Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in a funeral ceremony that united the nation to celebrate her life. Winie Mandela died on April 2nd at the age of 81 after a long fought illness. The official funeral service for the ex-wife of the late Nelson Mandela was taking place on Saturday morning in the Johannesburg township. The burial ceremony will take place later in the day, ending a nearly 2-week mourning period declared by the government.
