According to a report by Digital Trends, scientists have discovered bizarre geometric storms surrounding a single massive cyclone on each of Jupiter's poles. During a few close passes last May, NASA's 1.1 billion dollar Juno spacecraft collected data on the gas giant that revealed cyclones the size of Earth and an unexpectedly strong magnetic field. Data collected by Juno showed that the storms measure seven thousand miles across and reach speeds close to 220 miles per hour, equal to a Category 5 hurricane on Earth. Scientists were reportedly shocked to discover eight cyclones circling a single storm in the middle of the North pole. Later, the south pole presented a similar arrangement with five outer storms. Alberto Adriani, the lead author of the paper, explained that the strange storms are probably the result of Jupiter’s heat and rotation speed.
