Iraq's minister of planning estimated that the country will need over $88 billion to rebuild in the aftermath of battling the Islamic State.
Salman Al-Jameeli added that Iraq will need $23 billion in short-term funding, with an additional $65.5 billion over a longer term.
Funding for reconstruction and recovery would be appropriated for areas of Iraq seized by ISIS, including the country's second-largest city of Mosul, which insurgents captured in 2014.
But Al-Jameeli stated seven governorates in northern and eastern Iraq suffered as well under the Islamic State, incurring $46 billion in damages.
