On Monday, Penny Lawrence, the deputy head of Oxfam resigned over the British charity’s failure to issue an adequate response to past allegations of sexual misconduct by staff in Haiti and Chad. Oxfam, one of the best-known international aid programs, is under threat of losing its British government funding over the sexual misconduct allegations, which were first reported last week. According to the report, misconduct occurred when Oxfam was in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. Oxfam has said that as a result of an investigation in 2011, four people were dismissed and three others, including the Haiti country director, had resigned.
