The White House will support a stopgap funding measure to prevent a government shutdown.
With a looming deadline on January 19th, the Congress is negotiating a continuing resolution to fund the government through February 16th.
However, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders stated the White House prefers a longer term budget, like a two-deal, instead of the short-term funding bill.
The Congress has been struggling for months to pass a long term budget, as they prepare a third temporary spending bill since the 2018 fiscal year began on Oct. 1, 2017.
