The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case by Texas to revive electoral districts ruled to diminish the clout of black and Hispanic voters.
The Republican-drawn electoral districts are for the state legislative and US congressional seats.
Initially drawn back in 2013, the districts were more recently thrown out by a lower court for disenfranchising minority voters.
But the nation's top court put that ruling on hold last September.
Back then, the court justices were split 5-to-4, with the five conservative judges favoring the Texas Republicans.
