President Trump has officially declared that the United States recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump said in his speech “This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.” He also addressed in his statement on Wednesday the future of the US embassy in Israel which is to move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This move would require several years but saying that the process will start is significant. Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu thanked president trump for his decision in a video posted Wednesday afternoon.
