On Tuesday night, free agent NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick accepted Sports Illustrated's Muhammad Ali Legacy award. In his acceptance speech, Kaepernick pledged to continue his off-field work, regardless of whether he returns to the NFL. Kaepernick has spent time off the football field working with and donating to charities that promote social justice since, but has expressed a desire to continue playing in the NFL. Kaepernick added Tuesday, "If it were not for my love of the people, I would not have protested. And if it was not for the support from the people, I would not be on this stage today."
