On Monday, the city of Los Angeles filed a lawsuit against Uber after it was discovered recently that the company paid of hackers who stole data on 57 million passengers and drivers in October 2016. LA's suit joins several states and cities that have already sued the ride-sharing corporation. According to Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, Uber violated California law by not quickly disclosing the breach to the public. Washington has also filed a lawsuit against Uber, claiming it violated data breach notification law in the state. In addition, the city of Chicago has sued Uber as well, saying it also allegedly violated data breach notification laws in their area.
