On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump skipped the plenary session of a summit of Asian leaders in Manila due to scheduling delays, but still declared that his marathon trip through the region had been a success. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that he had delivered prepared remarks during a lunch rather than a summit meeting occurring later. According to a senior White House official, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson would attend the plenary session in the president's place.
