According to a US administration official on Tuesday, any move by the EU to impose new sanctions on Iran for its ballistic missile program as well as its alleged involvement in Middle East conflicts would be both "interesting and helpful." US President Donald Trump has pushed for Tehran's missile program to be curbed and looks to punish Tehran for its role in Yemen and Syria. After Trump dealt a blow to an international 2015 deal on Iran’s nuclear program by disavowing Iran’s compliance with its terms, the U.S. Congress now has until mid-December to decide whether economic sanctions that had been lifted in exchange for Iran limiting its nuclear activity will be reimposed on the country.
