WH to Select Jerome Powell as Next Federal Reserve Chair?

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is reportedly pushing for the White House to name Jerome Powell as the next chair of the Federal Reserve. Powell, a current Federal Reserve governor, previously worked in George H.W. Bush's Treasury Department and was also a partner at private equity firm Carlyle Group. Since he joined the Reserve's board in 2012, the 64-year-old has worked with current chair Janet Yellen, and her predecessor, Ben Bernanke, to craft the central bank’s monetary and regulatory policies following the 2008 financial crisis.
