Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan blames the U.S. ambassador to Turkey for the current diplomatic crisis between the two countries. On Tuesday, Erdogan said Ankara no longer considered ambassador John Bass Washington’s envoy. He suggested that Bass had acted alone in suspending visa services in Turkey following the arrest of a U.S. consulate worker. The U.S. embassy said on Sunday night that it would suspend visa services while it assessed Turkey’s commitment to the safety of its missions and its staff.
