Could Sweden Be The Answer To North Korea & U.S. Tensions

As the rhetoric between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong un continues to escalate, a question has arisen in terms of who could be a worthy intermediary for helping to mend fences between the two countries. While the U.S. does not have a formal diplomatic relationship with North Korea, Sweden could act as a key player in bring the two countries together.Ulv Hanssen, Research Assistant and Associate Fellow at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, said of the possibility of an intervention. "Sweden has done so on numerous occasions before, especially in relation to imprisoned Americans." According to Reuters the Swedish Foreign Ministry declined to comment.
