The Tesla Model 3 can drive for about 220 miles on its sizeable battery pack. New battery tech could boost those numbers by another 70%. That’s a massive increase in range that would see the base Model 3 rolling for nearly 375 emission-free miles and the extended range would smash the 500-mile mark. And it could be a reality very soon thanks to new battery packaging tech that’s been developed in Sweden. Cadenza Innovations has created a “new way to package energy.” Their design allows the cells to be packed more tightly inside a special ceramic casing. That, in turn, is wrapped in aluminum which provides additional protection and acts as a big heat sink. The result is a battery pack that’s much more energy-dense. With a stack of freshly-approved patents in hand, Cadenza is now ready to start making deals.
