Donald Trump is continuing with the "witch hunt" claims but no one is buying it.

He defended his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., on Wednesday, June 12. He stated on his personal Twitter account that his son is "open, transparent and innocent" and lashed out at the Russian controversy, calling it "the greatest witch hunt in political history."

Donald Trump Jr. has inserted himself in the ongoing Russian controversy over Russia's meddling with the 2016 presidential election. According to emails released by Trump Jr., he met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya on June 9, 2016. She was described as an intermediary who had information that would help his father win the election.

"My son Donald did a good job last night," Trump tweeted. "He was open, transparent and innocent. This is the greatest Witch Hunt in political history. Sad!"

The president then lashed out at his 2016 Democratic nominee, addressing her wrongdoings once again.

"Why aren't the same standards placed on the Democrats. Look at what Hillary Clinton may have gotten with. Disgraceful!" he further tweeted.

Trump Jr. chose Fox News to share his side of the story. On Tuesday night, he was heard saying, "I probably would have done things a little differently."

"Remember, when you hear the words 'sources say' from the Fake Media, often times those sources are made up and do not exist."

Trump Jr. released the emails on his own accord on Tuesday. He tweeted him out after The New York Times contacted him with questions on the emails they obtained. President Trump's latest tweet is his regular feelings on the Russia controversy. He has denied the collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives. He also stated for months that the investigation is the biggest "witch hunt" in history.

"You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people," Trump previously stated in June.

Back in May, he tweeted that the investigations on Capitol Hill were "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

FBI nominee Christopher Wray argued that the Russian probe is not a "witch hunt." He stated that he will not let politics get in the way of the bureau's investigation. The FBI's work will only be based on "the facts, the law and the impartial pursuit of justice," he said.

"My loyalty is to the Constitution and the rule of law. They have been my guideposts throughout my career, and I will continue to adhere to them no matter the test."

Wray was selected for the position last month after Trump fired James Comey. He stated that he disagreed that the Russian investigation is a "witch hunt."

"I do not consider Director Mueller to be on a witch hunt," he said when asked by Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

He promised to lead the FBI "without regard to any partisan political influence" and stated that he would not interfere with Mueller's investigation.

Though Trump has continued to state the Russian probe is a "witch hunt," there is no proof stating as such.
