Trooper Shot Dead In New York

A New York state trooper has been shot dead in Jefferson County. According to police, Trooper Joel R. Davis was fatally shot in front of a residence in the town of Theresa after reports of shots being fired Sunday night. Davis was a 36-year-old father of three. The suspect, 32-year old Justin D. Walters, surrendered to other State Troopers. Walters is an active duty Army infantryman. Police said a female victim was also found dead at the scene, identified as Walters' wife, Nichole V. Walters.
