Over 100 Muslims gathered outside Donald Trump's New York City home this week to protest the president's immigration policies and bias against Islam.

According to the Daily Mail, Jewish demonstrators created a protective barrier around the activists during their peaceful Ramadan protest the building on Thursday, where the group enjoyed their first meal of the day after sunset, known as iftar, during the sixth day of Ramadan.

The protesters also held peaceful prayer. Participants noted that they wanted to show that their community was united against Trump's hateful and anti-Islamic rhetoric as well as his twice failed travel ban on Muslim-majority countries.

"Everyday American Muslims are confronted with bigotry and hate while commuting to work and school, applying for jobs, practicing their faith and simply living their lives," said Anu Joshi, deputy director of the New York State Immigrant Action Fund, according to Press TV.

Jews for Racial and Economic Justice noted on Twitter that "Jews are forming a protective perimeter around our Muslim siblings as they prepare to pray. We keep each other safe."

The protest was held days after Trump wished “all Muslims a joyful Ramadan."

Though he may have attempted to seem sincere, the White House then broke with 20 years of tradition and did not hold a Ramadan event.

Throughout his campaign, Trump and his followers pushed anti-Islamic rhetoric.

"I think Islam hates us," he said at one point.

He also called for a "total and complete shutdown" of Muslims entering the U.S. "until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on," insinuating that the world Muslim population had "great hatred toward Americans."
