According to the U.S. Secret Service, the White House was placed on lockdown on Tuesday after a person attempted to jump over a bike rack used as a barrier along the north fence of the mansion. The department went on to add in a statement that the suspect is currently in custody. Security had already been tight around the area for Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's White House visit earlier on Tuesday, as protesters gathered in front of the building. According to a report, Erdogan left before the incident occurred.
