Ride sharing service Uber is under new pressure in New York City to add in-app tipping. On Monday the New York's Taxi and Limousine Commission reportedly announced a proposal that would allow passengers using car services that only accept only credit cards to tip the driver using their card. New York City taxis and Lyft already offer tipping via credit card, but Uber does not. Uber touts itself as being hyper-convenient and says one of the hallmarks of such convenience is letting customers have tip-free rides. Many Uber drivers, however, feel differently.
