Twitter Mocks CNN with #CNNHeadlines Hashtag

International news network CNN had some explaining to do today after incorrectly reporting that a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing had been arrested and taken into custody.

Several other networks failed to verify the report, which brought its authenticity into question. Later, three FBI sources, as well as the Boston Police, confirmed that the information was false.

This was not the first time the network has had to backtrack on headline miscues, after famously reporting that last year’s health care bill had been turned down, when, in fact, it was approved.

CNN’s miscue has become fun fodder for social media users, as Twitter has exploded with the hashtag “#CNNHeadlines.”
