Fearing Losing His Home, New York Man Kept Dead Grandma In Bags

2016-10-06 23:13:501 Oct 2018 01:53 AM EST

On Thursday 30-year-old Christopher Fuhrer was arrested in New York for improper burial and other charges. Police say the Queens resident kept his grandmother's dead body wrapped in plastic bags for approximately five months, because he was afraid of losing his housing. Fuhrer reportedly told officers he wrapped his deceased 85-year-old grandmother, Erika Kraus-Breslin, with plastic bags to deal with the smell of her decomposing corpse, and even tried to mask the smell with air fresheners and a fan in the upstairs bedroom of his grandmother's home. A medical examiner is currently assessing the cause of Kraus-Breslin's death.
