Pence Wins VP Debate

2016-10-05 11:18:01

On Tuesday, Republican Mike Pence and Democrat Tim Kaine went head to head in the only Republican Vice-Presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle. Most commentators and polls agree that Pence handily won the debate. But how did he do it and does it matter? During the debate, Pence seemed studied, well-versed, polished. He knew his stuff, and appeared at ease talking about it. Kaine went into this debate as the favorite. The initiative and momentum belonged to Kaine and he blew it. Kaine seemed weirdly out of touch with the ways normal humans think and talk. While Pence came off as genuine and earnest, Kaine came off as bitter, angry, hostile, and - maybe worst of all - a career politician. Pence maybe boring, but he seems the most normal, relatable, and earnest of them all.
