Fourth Case of E. Coli Found In Two Year Old

2016-09-09 15:42:13

A fourth case of the antibotic-resistant E.Coli has been found in the United States in a two year old girl from Connecticut, who had traveled to the Caribbean prior to the detection. Even though the strain the girl had was resistant to colistin, it was not resistant to all antibiotics and since then has fully recovered after being treated with the antibiotic paromomycin. Researchers at the U.S Centers for Disease Control announced on Friday, that they expect to see more cases of the drug-resistant bug pop up in the United States. CDC Researchers say the case for the two year old girl must have been food borne. After spending two to three weeks in the Caribbean, she consumed chicken and goat meat from an animal market there, and developed a fever just before returning to the United States.
