Due to the approach of Winter Storm Nemo, New York City’s alternate side parking rules have been suspended for Friday, February 8.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the NYC Mayor’s Office made the announcement on Twitter Thursday morning.
“Due to winter storm #Nemo, Alternate Side Parking rules will be suspended for Friday,” the post stated.
In addition, the mayor announced that New York is ready for the storm in terms of salt trucks and plows.
“We’re ready for #Nemo: We have 250,000+ tons of salt on hand, 350 salt spreaders & plows ready to be put on 1,800 Sanitation trucks,” he posted.
Nemo is set to hit the northeast Friday and Saturday, though the amount of snow that New York City will receive is not yet known. Currently, the Weather Channel has the area in the 6 to 12 inch range, but rain is also a possibility.
