New York, NY—Former Michigan State Spartans linebacker Percy Snow was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame earlier this month. I was able to set down with Mr. Snow to talk some MSU and Big Ten Football.

I can’t tell what you’re enjoying more today…entering the College Football Hall of Fame or busting Orlando Pace’s chops over the Big Ten Championship Game…

Well, I mean hey, I’ve been listening to them… living back in Ohio, being a Michigan State man I’ve been listening to this Ohio State junk for years. (Said with tongue fully in cheek.) Ever since Urban Meyer got there…I mean every day I gotta listen to them. So, now that I have a chance, I’m gonna rub it in their face. I’m gonna rub it in their face just like they did me…until Ohio State proves they can beat Michigan State.

This Michigan State team is a throwback team. Does it make it more enjoyable for you that they’re winning with defense?

It doesn’t surprise me because if you look at the backbone of (Mark) Dantonio, his days here in the Nick Saban era, he’s got that same aggressive mentality, as far as that old school mentality. Run first, pass second, establish that running game, stop the run…

Classic Big Ten Football…

Exactly, classic Big Ten football. Those are the teams that win, the teams that have strong defenses. You can’t just play the run or the pass because you’ll get subject to one. It’s like picking your poison. They’re doing a heck of a job and I don’t think it could have happened any better.

Do you think Michigan State doesn’t get enough respect nationally? They were 12-1 and a conference champ, just like Auburn, and they weren’t really considered for the title game.

I don’t really think it’s just Michigan State. It’s the Big Ten really. It’s beyond one team. I really don’t think even if Ohio State won they’d be wanted. It worked out the way that they hoped it would. Honestly, I really don’t think they wanted to see a Big Ten team (in the BCS Championship Game). At the same time, Ohio State showed their weak hand. They went down in defeat. It worked out pretty much the way the NCAA wanted it.
