NYC Traffic Report for Thursday, September 26: UN General Assembly Delays

Yet again, the UN General Assembly is causing road closures, detours and delays in Midtown East, affecting New York City’s drivers and bus passengers this Thursday afternoon.

Currently, there are no R trains are running between Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn until October 2014 due to Sandy Recovery. Service changes affect City Hall, Cortlandt, Rector, Whitehall, Court Streets and Jay Street-MetroTech.

Due to a signal problem at Forest Hills-71st Avenue, E and F train service running with delays in both directions.

The Long Island Railroad is running normally this afternoon.

On the Metro-North Railroad, limited Bus/Train Service will be provided for the New Haven Line, beginning with AM Peak service on  Thursday, September 26 and until further notice due to the loss of Con Edison feeders that supply traction power to the line’s electric fleet. The service plan can accommodate approximately 33 percent of the regular ridership on the New Haven Line.  See service details at http://bit.ly/S5Cxrf.

On the NJ Transit, buses will continue to replace trains between Spring Valley and Secaucus Junction from approximately 8:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on the Pascack Valley Line until September 6. Also, trains will not operate between Port Jervis and Otisville from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through September 2013.

City buses are again facing many delays and detours:

B67 buses have a new weekday extended service to Brooklyn Navy Yard effective Monday, September 9 on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Buses will be extended to Division Avenue at Wythe Street. On evenings, nights and weekends buses will terminate on Sands Street and Jay Street.

Until further notice due to construction, B44 customers are advised to board southbound buses on Nostrand Avenue at Fulton Street instead of Hancock Street.

B44 and B44LTD buses are facing a temporary bus stop closure on Bedford Avenue at Lafayette Avenue due to construction. Until further notice, customers are advised to board northbound buses on Bedford Avenue at Greene Avenue.

B44 buses are also detoured from Taylor Street between Lee and Bedford Avenues from 12 p.m. Thursday, September 19, to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 25. Due to a festival, northbound buses run via Bedford Avenue.

Effective Sunday, September 8, the new B32 bus route will operate between Williamsburg Bridge Plaza connecting to the J, M and Z trains at the Marcy Avenue station and the E and M trains at the Court Square-23rd Street Station on weekdays and weekends from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Effective Sunday, September 8, B15 buses will no longer serve the Brooklyn General Mail Facility. Buses will terminate on Linden Boulevard at Eldert Lane in Spring Creek. Buses will continue to serve JFK Airport.

M23, X2, X5, X37, X38, X63, X64, X68, BM1, BM2 and BM4 buses are running with delays due to FDNY activity on 23rd Street in midtown Manhattan.

Bx26 and Bx34 buses are detoured from Bedford Park Boulevard between Marion Avenue and Webster Avenue.

Due to construction, Bx15, M60, M100 and M101 buses will bypass the 125th Street at Park Avenue stop.

Bx9, Bx12, Bx12SBS and Bx22 buses are facing a temporary bus stop change at Fordham Plaza until further notice.

Bx10 buses are detoured from Goulden Avenue between W 205th Street and Sedgwick Avenue until further notice due to construction.

M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M7, M11, M15, M15SBS, M20, M21, M34, M34A, M42 and M50 buses are running with delays in Midtown in both directions, due to the UN General Assembly.

M8 buses are detoured due to road work on W 10th Street and Washington Street.

M50 buses are detoured from E 49th and E 50th Streets between Madison and Lexington Avenues from 5 a.m. Monday, September 23, to 5 a.m. Sunday, October 6, due to the United Nations General Assembly. All stops east of 2nd Avenue will be bypassed. Customers are advised to board westbound buses on 49th Street at 2nd Avenue.

The M42 bus stop on 42nd Street at 3rd Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Monday to Friday, September 23 to 27, due to the United Nations General Assembly. All bus stops east of 42nd Street at 3rd Avenue will be temporarily closed. Customers are advised to board buses on 42nd Street at 3rd Avenue for westbound service.

M42 buses are also detoured from 42nd Street between 2nd Avenue and the FDR Drive from 5 a.m. Monday, September 23, to 6 a.m. Sunday, October 6.

The M4 bus stops on Madison Avenue between 48th and 50th Streets will also be closed due to the UN General Assembly from 4:50 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Monday to Friday, September 23 to 27.

M34SBS/M34ASBS buses are detoured from 34th Street between 1st Avenue and the FDR Drive from 5 a.m. Saturday, September 21, to 11 p.m. Sunday, October 6, due to the UN General Assembly.

Due to construction, M34SBS and M34ASBS customers are advised to board eastbound buses on 34th Street between 7th and 6th Avenues.

M22 buses are detoured due to the Chambers Street Reconstruction Project, from Chambers Street between North End Avenue and Broadway. M20 buses are also bypassing the Chambers Street stop at West Broadway, and M22 buses bypass stops on Chambers Street at Church Street and West Broadway.

Until further notice, due to construction, northbound M15SBS bus customers are advised to board on 1st Avenue between E 25th and E 26th Streets.

M15/M15SBS buses are detoured from 1st Avenue between 39th and 50th Streets form 5 a.m. Monday, September 23, to 6 a.m. Sunday, October 6, due to the UN General Assembly.

Until further notice, M15 buses are rerouted from Water Street at Fulton Street due to construction. Customers are advised to board buses at Peck Slip.

Until further notice, M15 bus stops along South Street at Broad and Whitehall Streets are temporarily closed.

M11 buses are running with delays due to the United Nations General Assembly on 42nd Street at 1st Avenue.

M100 bus service has been extended to East 125th Street at 1st Avenue, effective Sunday, September 8. Buses have been extended to provide additional service along 125th Street.

M1, M2 and M3 buses are facing a temporary bus stop closure on Madison Avenue between 48th and 50th Streets from 4:50 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., Monday to Friday, Sep 23 to 27, due to the United Nations General Assembly.

Following an earlier incident on 99th Street, Q38, QM10 and QM11 bus service has resumed regular route.

Effective Sunday, September 8, Q72 buses will no longer make the stop at the American Airlines Hanger. Customers are advised to use the Terminal B (Central Terminal) stop.

Effective Sunday, September 8, the new Q70LTD bus connects to the LIRR and 7 train at the Woodside/61st Street Station and the E, F, M, R and 7 trains at the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street-Broadway station. Buses run non-stop between Jackson Heights and LaGuardia Airport.

Effective Sunday, September 8, Q33 buses will no longer enter LaGuardia Airport. The new terminal will be on 95th Street at Ditmars Boulevard.

Until further notice, Q25, Q34 and Q65 buses are detoured from Archer Avenue at Parsons Boulevard due to construction.

Until further notice due to construction, Q18 customers are advised to board southbound buses on 58th Street at Woodside Avenue as buses temporarily bypass the stop on 58th Street at 39th Avenue.

Q2 and Q110 bus service will now be provided to Belmont Park Racetrack. Beginning Saturday, September 7 to Sunday, October 27, Q2/Q112 buses will stop inside the racetrack on race days and will enter the track at Gate 1.

QM21, X63, X64 and X68 buses are facing a temporary bus stop closure on Madison Avenue between 48th and 50th Streets from 5:50 a.m. to 9 a.m., Monday to Friday, September 23 to 27, due to the United Nations General Assembly.

Brooklyn and Staten Island Express buses are experiencing delays in both directions due to various street closures along 1st Avenue in Manhattan due to the United Nations General Assembly.

All bridges and tunnels are running normally this afternoon.
