The Department of Justice on Wednesday announced charges against two former Twitter employees. According to Gizmodo, they've been accused of spying on behalf of Saudi Arabia. One former employee, Ahmad Abouammo, is a U.S. citizen. Ali Alzabarah is a Saudi citizen. They allegedly accessed the private information of Twitter users at the request of a Saudi official. That official has close ties to the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman. A third Saudi individual, Ahmed Almutairi, is accused of acting as an “intermediary” between Alzabarah and the Saudi official. Almutairi has also been charged with spying.
