Bloomington, IN— The Hoosier alumni in the NFL had a more active week in Week 5, as multiple players returned from injury. It saw Tevin Coleman and Jordan Howard find the end zone, while offensive lineman Brandon Knight got his first action as a rookie.

Tevin Coleman – San Francisco 49ers

Tevin Coleman returned to action from an ankle sprain he suffered during the first game of the season. Coleman showed no signs of slowing down, racking up 97 yards on the ground with a 19-yard TD run. The 49ers ran for 275 as a team, blowing out the Browns 31-3. Coleman showed just how important he is to this San Francisco offense, averaging 6.1 yards per carry.

Jordan Howard – Philadelphia Eagles

Jordan Howard was coming off his best game as an Eagle and did not disappoint. Howard found the end zone again for his fourth touchdown of the year. Howard got 13 carries and rushed for 62 yards, good enough for a solid 4.8 yards-per-carry. Howard was not targeted in the passing game. The Eagles rolled the Jets for a 31-6 victory at home.

The Rest of Former IU Players in the NFL:

Ian Thomas – Carolina Panthers: Ian Thomas was not targeted in Carolina's victory over the Jaguars on Sunday. The young tight end did not record a statistic for the fourth straight week.

Cody Latimer – New York Giants: Wide receiver Cody Latimer was active on Sunday. He did not record a statistic during the Giants’ loss to Minnesota.

Nate Sudfeld – Philadelphia Eagles: Nate Sudfeld is recovering from a fractured wrist suffered in the preseason. He is expected to make a return between late October and mid-November.

Chris Covington – Dallas Cowboys: Chris Covington was inactive for the Cowboys this week in their loss to Green Bay.

Dan Feeney – Los Angeles Chargers: Dan Feeney and the Chargers lost again, this time to the Broncos, falling to 2-3 on the year.

Brandon Knight – Dallas Cowboys: Brandon Knight was active for Dallas’ loss against the Packers and he saw the first playing time of his career. Knight looked comfortable in his first-ever NFL action and proved to be a potential piece of Dallas’ offensive line rotation.

Wes Martin – Washington Redskins: Wes Martin, rookie offensive guard, was active for Washington’s loss to the Vikings this week. Sunday marked Martin’s second career start at right guard. Martin hopes to be a positive force on an unfortunately miserable Washington team.

Roger Saffold – Tennessee Titans: Roger Saffold and the Titans lost a low scoring game at home to the Bills. The Titans fell under .500 on the year and the offense in particular has much room for improvement.

Jason Spriggs - Green Bay Packers: Spriggs is currently on injured reserve.
