How To Make Your Smartphone Safer

2019-09-24 02:42:251 Oct 2018 01:53 AM EST

81% of Americans have a smartphone, and reportedly check it more than 50 times a day. But when it comes to safety, 30% of smartphone owners don't use a screen lock or have additional security features on their phone. Business Insider made a list of 10 different ways to make your phone safer, according to security experts. In addition to locking your phone screen, their tips include: 1. Use caller protection apps like Burner and Firewall to safeguard your phone against hackers, and unwanted telemarketers. 2. Don't charge your phone in a public charging station because doing so transmits data and can make you susceptible to a security breach. 3. Update your phone's software to reduce the chance of being hacked. Liz Hamilton, a director at Mobile Klinik, explains, "The longer you go without updating your phone and software, the longer your data is at risk for any malware malfunction."
