California Follows Lead On Restricting Flavored E-Cigarettes

2019-09-16 16:32:061 Oct 2018 01:53 AM EST

According to Reuters, on Monday, California is expected to crack down on flavored e-cigarettes restrictions. This comes after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention alerted the public that 400 people were affected and six people died from a nationwide lung illness that may be vaping-related. According to a press alert, Gavin Newsom will propose an “executive action to confront the growing youth health concerns linked to vaping.” Over 80 percent of high school students who consume tobacco use a vaping device. Health officials fear they could get hooked on the nicotine they contain. California's announcement follows New York and Chicago's plans to ban flavored e-cigarettes besides tobacco and menthol. Last week, President Donald Trump’s administration also alerted that they plan to "remove all flavored e-cigarettes from store shelves."
