Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill to raise the minimum salary for teachers to $40,000. According to the Huffington Post, the law aims to reach this minimum salary by 2023. The governor said this law indicates to students and their parents that they “value teachers.” He said: “I see the care and compassion you put into your work, and I’m proud to help make sure you earn what you’re worth.” The current minimum teacher salary in Illinois ranges from $9.000 to $11,000.
