According to a report by Reuters, on Tuesday, China's foreign ministry said that Beijing will respond firmly if the United States insists on escalating trade tensions, with further tariffs ready to be imposed if no deal is reached at a G20 summit this month. Trump has reportedly claimed that he is getting ready to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Osaka summit at the end of June, however China has not confirmed it. Reuters reports that, last week, Trump said that he would decide after the G20 meeting whether to carry out his threat to impose additional tariffs on at least $300 billion in Chinese goods.
