The US Government Will Pay You $1,000 To Adopt A Horse

2019-05-22 02:57:301 Oct 2018 01:53 AM EST

Mother Nature Network reports that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has said wild horses and burros are becoming a problem for grazing lands. According to the BLM the number of animals continues to grow each year as fewer people take advantage of adoption programs. In an attempt to quell the record-breaking populations, the BLM is offering potential adopters up to $1,000. The incentive can be used when adopting an untrained wild horse or burro. Under the Adoption Incentive Program, adopters will receive $500 within 60 days of adoption and another $500 once they've received the ownership title to the animal. In order to qualify to adopt, you must be 18 years old, have no history of animal abuse, and meet certain conditions for facilities and care.
