Not all muscle-building protein bars are necessarily good for you. That's because according to Business Insider, some are very high in sugar and artificial ingredients. A Mars Protein bar, for example contains over three teaspoons of sugar--which is over 50% of the recommended daily 'free/added' sugar allowance." Nutritionists recommend looking at the ingredients list first of a protein bar, then comparing the sugar content of it to your favorite chocolate bar before deciding to consume it on a regular basis. Also, whole foods tend to be cheaper, lower in calories and sugar, and leave you feeling fuller for longer. For example, a simple serving of Greek yogurt with some fruit and a handful of almonds comes in at around 24g of protein.
