They're cute; they're fluffy and they are deadly! Australia's feral cat population is public enemy number one. CNN reports that since they were first introduced by European settlers, feral cats have helped drive an estimated 20 mammal species to extinction, Gregory Andrews, national commissioner of threatened species explained, that makes feral cats the single biggest threat to Australia's native species. The Australian government's plan to combat the deadly creatures is to eliminate them. The government has said that by 2020, two million free-roaming cats- a third of the estimated 6 million feral cats in the country, will be culled in an effort to preserve native species.
