France's CGT Union Extends Energy Strike In Support Of 'Yellow-Vest' Movement

According to a report by Reuters, on Thursday, France's CGT trade union called on its energy industry workers to walk out for 48 hours in support of the 'yellow-vest' movement. The CGT reportedly said that President Emmanuel Macron's long-term energy-transition plan would hurt jobs and increase France's dependency on neighboring countries. The union reportedly said that its members were 'joining the protests which the country is currently experiencing.' The statement from the union reportedly went on to challenge the choices of the President and Prime Minister's offices, 'which are increasing inequalities and no longer allow a large part of the population to live with dignity.'
