According to a report by Reuters, on Thursday, the US Justice Department is scheduled to appear before an appeals court to in an attempt to overturn a lower court ruling and order AT&T to undo its 85.4 billion dollar purchase of entertainment company Time Warner. The Justice Department reportedly filed its lawsuit in November 2017, arguing that AT&T would use its ownership of Time Warner's content to make pay TV rivals pay more, raising costs for consumers. The government reportedly estimated that costs to industry rivals would increase by $580 million a year if AT&T successfully completes its acquisition of Time Warner.
