According to a new study, the incidence of hospital-acquired infections following hip surgery has risen drastically over a 10-year period. UPI reports that researchers in Denmark found the increase while analyzing the records of more than 74,000 patients over age 65 who underwent first-time hip fracture surgery. The researchers found that within 30 days following the surgery, the number of hospital-treated infections climbed from nearly 11 percent between 2005 to 2006 to more than 14 percent between 2015 and 2016.
