According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, the outcome of the latest immigration case to come before the US Supreme Court could hinge upon the twp latest Justices to be appointed, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. The nine justices heard arguments for sweeping government authority to detain immigrants awaiting deportation after they complete sentences for criminal convictions. In April, Gorsuch reportedly joined with the court’s four liberal justices in a 5-4 ruling in another immigration case that has the potential to hinder the administration’s ability to step up the removal of immigrants with criminal records.
