On Wednesday, two Democratic senators asked for investigations into virtual charter schools. The senators wanted the GAO to launch an investigation into the practices and policies of the schools. The GAO is the Government Accountability Office. The request comes from Democratic Sens. Patty Murray (Wash.) and Sherrod Brown (Ohio). They want a more comprehensive look at how these schools work in the 27 states that house them. The request came the same day a report outlined stark academic shortcomings at these schools. According to Huffpo, the report showed a disproportionate focus on profit over quality.
