New York Giants Cut Former First Round Draft Pick Ereck Flowers

According to Deadspin, the Giants have cut offensive tackle and former first round draft pick Ereck Flowers. Flowers’s tenure with the Giants was an unmitigated disaster. He struggled mightily during his first three years in the NFL, committing penalties and getting beat by rushers at an alarming rate. The Giants initially tried to trade Flowers, who was drafted ninth overall out of the University of Miami, but opted to cut him after no deals materialized. The team hoped Flowers would improve this season after a move to right tackle, but his play became so bad he was eventually benched.
